International Staff Week

By the end of August, Ruth Lied, International Relations Manager at CESI, was able to go to North Macedonia in order to meet with the university partner International Balkan University (IBU), and to build relationships with the Macedonian higher education players and discuss collaboration actions involving both institutions.

This visit helped to prepare for the International Staff Week seminar held at IBU last November, in which Ruth and Julio Santilario, a teaching instructor at the Lyon campus, took part to present CESI’s active teaching methods! In order to represent CESI among 17 other universities, Ruth Lied and Julio Santilario took part in the various events organised by IBU.

The seminar agenda

Over a period of three days, the participating universities presented their training programmes and teaching methods. This was followed by information exchange sessions with international university counterparts, with the aim of building future partnerships, and with IBU students, who offered traditional local meals.

The afternoons were punctuated by speeches given by professors from the delegations of the various participating universities. As CESI representative, Julio Santilario talked about the school’s teaching methods and its PBL method. The conference was a success and several counterparts from international delegations showed interest in coming to France to try out these methods in one of our training centres for a week.

The participants also had the opportunity to visit international high schools or French-speaking sections. It was an opportunity to develop a network with companies and the French institute in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, for setting up a virtual reality project in connection with the engineering programme at CESI.

The week ended with a tour to the city and the closing ceremony.

It was a great experience for Ruth and Julio, who were able to share insights on many technical and educational topics with their counterparts, while speaking English in a multicultural context.
