CESI victim of a cybersecurity incident

On Saturday, February 1st at 5:00 a.m., Jean-Marc Ogier, CEO of CESI, was notified by the authorities of a cybersecurity incident on CESI’s systems.
CESI management immediately activated its crisis unit. As soon as the intrusion became known, Internet access was cut off to contain the incident as a precautionary measure. All concerned departments mobilized to ensure business continuity. In the aftermath, the teams, supported by cybersecurity experts with whom CESI has already been working for several months, have worked together to contain the situation, analyse the impact, and gradually restore services under optimal security conditions.
Classes were able to be held on Monday morning, February 3rd. The first memo was sent to employees and students via the school’s internal networks on Sunday afternoon, February 2nd, so that classes could resume on Monday morning.
The 2 500 students in integrated undergraduate courses and Master of Engineering programs under a student status in the Grande Ecole Program were invited to take online classes on Monday, February 3rd. On the night of Sunday to Monday, the program’s studies department made available all the documents necessary for educational continuity to the teaching teams of the 25 campuses via Teams.
Graduate engineering student pursuing an apprenticeship contract withing Grande École Program, as well as those from the Specialized Bachelor’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, Professional Master’s Degree, Executive Post-Graduate Program® and Executive programs were welcomed to the campuses in the best possible conditions.
The competent authorities have become involved, namely the police, ANSSI (the French Agency for the Security of Information Systems) and appropriate steps have been taken with CNIL, the French Data Protection Authority.
At this time, we are still investigating the extent of the incident.
Protecting our infrastructure, our data, and that of all stakeholders is our top priority.
The school management condemns this criminal act.
