As part of the partnership with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, CESI students are participating in a summer school to present their H2VR stepper project.

CESI/University of Louisiana at Lafayette Partnership

The partnership between CESI and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette began in 2022. In 2023, two CESI students completed their international mobility through an internship at the department of computer science in Lafayette. Following this mobility, the Director of the Department of Computer Science visited CESI and presented his university at the Rouen and Arras campuses, facilitating the expansion of further collaborative actions between the two schools.

Erwan MARTIN is one of the CESI apprentices who completed his internship in Lafayette. Also serving as the president of the CESI Rouen robotics club (Please find the complete list of BDE clubs), he regularly publishes information sharing his experiences in Louisiana.

Steven LUCAS, currently studying computer science at the Arras campus, is one of the CESI students who embarked on their internship in Lafayette in 2023.

The experience I had last year was incredible. Everything is designed to make your life easier, and there are plenty of resources available to students in terms of sports activities, events, and opportunities. The people are extraordinarily kind, the food is very good, and the schedule is very well-balanced to combine work and leisure.

They know how to handle things so well that I returned this year. Additionally, the Director Dr. Margala, is exceptional.

During summer 2024, around twenty CESI engineering apprentices from the Arras and Rouen campuses will embark on an international mission internship, within several departments of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, for a duration of 3 to 4 months.

This collaboration aims to provide CESI students with opportunities for international internships, get to participate in a summer school in Louisiana, and offer PBL (Problem-Based Learning) trainings to American educators.

WHAT IS A SUMMER SCHOOL

A summer school (université d’été, in French) is an international academic program designed to enable international students to pursue courses outside of the regular calendar year at a different university.

OUR STUDENTS AT THE LAFAYETTE SUMMER SCHOOL

A group of six fourth-year engineering students is participating in Lafayette’s innovation summer school in June for 2 weeks. Our students’ goal is to secure a patent for the « stepper », a project they have been working on for several months. They are currently engaged in developing a functional prototype to showcase at the summer school. They were able to benefit from an Erasmus+ scholarship for short-term mobility and will receive academic credits from CESI.

Six fourth-year students in the general engineering program at the CESI Rouen campus have chosen to further develop, a project undertaken during the academic year.

With both ecological and scientific considerations in mind, six students have decided to modernize the stepper, an often-neglected device. As engineering students, they have successfully transformed it into a connected and modern device.

The project was initiated at CESI Rouen and will continue during the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Summer School focused on innovation.
