IoT Workshop
This March 3rd to 7th the CESI Arras campus welcomed a delegation from its new Kenyan partner for the Winter IoT Workshop. 12 students from Strathmore University in Nairobi accompanied by the Dean and a doctoral student from the Department of Computing and Engineering, took part in the hackathon organized by the CESI Arras pedagogical team in collaboration with the Franco-Italian company STMicroelectronics. Along with being an opportunity to develop technical expertise with new digital tools and have a rich intercultural experience, it was an opportunity for Strathmore students to discover the unique CESI universe.
After welcoming the delegation and launching the project on the first day, participants were able to familiarize themselves with the tools and work on microprocessors in groups on the second day.
On the third day, students toured the fablab with its cutting-edge tools such as the industry-grade virtual reality platform, the TIAGO robot, and the CYSCO server center. After a presentation of the CESI Master’s Degree in Computer Science taught in English, participants presented their work to a jury of professors and representatives from STMicroelectronics, and tuned in on a presentation by LINEACT researcher Roozbeh Sadeghian detailing his work on connected buildings.
In addition to the hackathon, Kenyan and French students benefited from intercultural exchange. Strathmore students were joined by a group of students from the CESI Lille campus to discuss the specificities of the business culture and higher education system in the two respective countries. The week ended with a guided tour of the city of Arras to discover its cultural heritage.
