This event served as an introduction to the EAIE Toulouse 2024 conference, a major international event in the field of education, held this year in France. More specifically, it was organized by the University of Toulouse from September 17-20.

« Taking part in the EAIE conference is very important for all players in international education, because there we meet embassies, international partners, universities from all over the world. And for us it is the wonderful opportunity to discuss new programs, dual degrees, new types of cooperation, and to deepen relationships with our partners. And for sure it’s also an occasion to take part in ateliers, workshops and be informed about new ideas, best practices. »

Hosting international partners on the CESI campus

The participants were welcomed in a convivial atmosphere in the campus hall by Stefan Seiler, the Director of International Development at CESI and his collaborators, accompanied by a welcome buffet. This event gave our partners the opportunity to discover one of CESI’s campuses in the southwest region, meet participants from various countries, and discuss topics of great interest to them, including updates on higher education and international mobility.

A look back at the conference

During his opening speech, Stefan Seiler welcomed all the participants and mentioned several current topics of CESI, including the recent acquisition of certifications « Bienvenue en France», UNAI label and CESI’s inclusion, for the first time, in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking. Stefan particularly emphasized the importance of international mobility and partnerships between foreign institutions.

Numerous workshops were led throughout the day by renowned specialists. A highlight of the day was the conference on ‘The Importance of Active Learning in Multicultural Contexts,’ delivered by Yves Mauffette, a professor from the University of Quebec, Montreal. Our partners had the opportunity to discuss current issues in education, particularly in the context of digitalization and the impact of multicultural environments.

Thanks to workshops led by Yohan Dupuis the Director of Research at CESI LINEACT, as well as by Kamaldeep-Singh Oberoi, a teacher-researcher and assistant professor at CESI LINEACT, our partners gained insight into our research laboratories, scientific teams, and equipment, as well as our ongoing projects and initiatives of CESI: BIM, Smart Building Platform, Battwin platform, Corot Project, Mon Trajet Vert. Furthermore, they discussed objectives related to future international mobility. The importance of adapting communication channels for the younger generation was also highlighted during these discussions.

The conference ‘How to Welcome Foreigners?’ was organized by Frédérique Breniaux, the International Projects Manager at Bricks of Aerospace Valley. She discussed the challenges involved in integrating foreigners, particularly regarding cultural differences such as the perceptions of time, values, and communication. She also presented the solutions proposed by her company, including the ‘Summer School’ program, which offers training for foreigners and their families, as well as for French citiziens, to help them better welcome newcomers.

Each workshop was followed by a Q&A session, and stands were set up to allow participants to network between conferences. The day concluded with a closing speech by Stefan Seiler.
